[Closed] Seto Kaiba in pokemon land.
"You're probably going to want to keep that on," she'd told her adopted brother as they exited the train at the stop to her world. "I don't know how much our languages are mutually intelligible."
They could be - his name certainly sounded Kantan enough, but she didn't want to risk it and not that she's taking hers off, either. Look, she speaks just enough Alolan to get by, but not nearly enough for this trip.
If she was honest, that first step of the train was- terrifying but at the same time, freeing.
She'd never been more happier to see familiar sunlight on a familiar blue sky than when the doors opened. It wasn't the final stop and it wouldn't be, for either of them. After she'd shown him her world, she wanted to see his, to experience Duel Monsters the way it was supposed to be.
Her world. Arkea. Alola. Home. She could already smell the salt air, hear the ocean and all the familiar sounds of life as she knew it. There was the familiar, welcome weight of her pokeballs, of her team. Of the pokegear around her neck -a check of time revealed it was noon-hour on the same day she'd left. Well, ok...?. Ahh whatever. That can be dealt with later, but at least it explained what she couldn't hear the sound of battles.
But, it did not matter. This was home and they'd disembarked on the grounds of the facility and its collection of buildings collectively known as the Battle Tree. She could stand and stare and marvel for hours, if not days.
Yet, for now- she had a promise to keep, one that was years in the making since she'd first told him of porygon and their shells, or so it felt.
"We're around the back, probably near where we store the extra teleporters." Which are pokemon, but details. "Come on. We'll teleport over to Heahea City and build you a porygon, and they have high-end breeders with baby dragons. I'll pay, so don't think, just get what you want."
Just depends on what he wanted to do first in this world. She was but the guide and bank.
Also, if Seto looks skyward, there is a bright blue day star a handspan from the sun. This world, it seems, might have two suns.

He looked to Eva and felt a small smile tug at his lips. This was what he'd been waiting for. A chance to see the true majesty of the world, to let loose and be free.
"Any known side effects of teleporting?" Sorry, he just had to ask.
no subject
It's honest and blunt. She's not sugar-coating things and even if she wants to just take her time, well. Her strides are long and she knows exactly where they're going. "First-timers tend to be a dizzy as well, but we'll be taking a yungerā, which are smooth travel, and it'll be on your belt."
She really hopes she doesn't have to spell out why, but she will if needed.
no subject
He's a little embarrassed about the potential to make a fool of himself, but he'll do his best. "I'm ready."
no subject
It's remarkably plain inside, with a wooden platform no more than five foot wide, and a rack next to it that holds various pokeballs, premierballs, greatballs and at least one luxuryball in the mix, with what looks like spare pokebelts off to the side. Eva grabs a belt and one of the greatballs and climbs the two steps up onto the platform, where she releases the kadabra, the pale yellow-and-tan humanoid fox-like creature barely coming up to Seto's midsection.
"You'll be fine." Eyes flick to the waiting pokemon, and only once Seto's near her, she hands over the belt and greatball. Once he's got the belt on, she gives the command. "Heahea City Main PokeCenter. Teleport."
And, then in a burst of psychic energy, they go from a storeroom to a large wooden platform set up within a (somewhat busy) cobblestone courtyard of a truly massive building. Eva herself is fine, but she more than ready to steady Seto if he needs it.
Welcome to the world of Pokemon, Kaiba. Your very own Pokemon Journey starts now.

...and all at once he stretches into the void. He'd felt something like this when traveling dimensions, but his insulating systems had blocked out most of it. This hits him with the force of a speeding truck, and he wobbles unsteadily on his feet.
"M' fine. Just...give me a moment, please." And he bends over, bracing on his knees, willing for the whirlwind to stop. "Can't let the day slip away..."
no subject
More like first time, but she knows better than to tell people that. Not when it'd draw more attention than they already have and she's not sure she, or her brother, want to answer any of the curious questions as to why he's never teleported before now.
"It's noon-hour," It's soft, so only he can hear it. "There's at least nine hours until sunset and shop close. So, if you need to sit on the benches for a bit..."
It's open-ended and unassuming.
no subject
Does that help? Maybe? Seto finally looks up at her and nods. "Just a few minutes"
He can walk, if slowly, and he drapes himself over a bench to quell the dizzy spell. Finally, he lifts his head enough to look around. "It's beautiful...m. I can't wait to meet the rest of your team when we get out there."
no subject
She and the kadabra follow him Thankuy, the bench isn't that far away and it gives a good the courtyard and the coming and goings as people teleport in and out via various pokemon (at least one of the incoming people is wearing a flight suit, what look like dragon-skin boots and a popped collar cape). Eva ducks behind Seto to hide from view.
There's also a view of the street (the road devoid of traffic despite it being the middle of the day) and entrance to the pokemon centre. The building is massive, and there's a steady stream of people coming and going. Some -most teenagers- bolt in while others are more relaxed. Cape-person strides towards the pokemon centre without even a glance at Seto.
"Well-" One last look at the Pokecentre then Eva unhooks the black-and-gold luxuryball. "'Nona!"
The ninetales is released in a sparkle of yellow light. "
no subject
Seto just barely remembers what button to push, and then they're relaxing in the courtyard. At least until she pushes herself behind him and he lifts a brow.
Don't think a lovely fox is going to distract him, Eva. He does extend a cautious hand for Nona to sniff, but he gives her a curious look
"Someone you had a bad dealing with?"
no subject
She knows she'd win, hands down, but doesn't mean she wants to battlenot right now. Not when 'Nona appears to reguard Seto with a impassive eyes and a small sniff. "You can pat her, just not the tails."
no subject
no subject
"Yea, and if I'm going to show off, it'll be at the Battle Tree!" Despite the grin, despite the lightheartedness, she's Serious. "You think Princess's attacks are flashy, you haven't 'Nona in action, isn't that right girl?"
That is a very fox-like yip - that turns into all the happyfox noises when Eva joins in petting her. "I'm missed you so much, yes I have, oh yes I have."
Maturity? what's that again? Eva has none, and 'Nona has it all.
no subject
"...I think I'm ready to go. Where's our first stop?"
no subject
She snorts as she stands, sarcasm heavy in her voice now. "Because custom porygon are silly frivolous things the rich get to show off. Riiiight."
no subject
The baby dragons will be special, he can't wait for that, but he's heard so much about this fascinating creature called Porygon that he has to see it. He walks with a confident stride now, though he makes an effort to dial it down a little. He's not a trainer, he doesn't want to attract attention as though he is.
no subject
Eva, on the other hand, makes no such attempt as she leads them towards the department store. It was always there in that quiet way, but now, in this world, strides are that of a woman who knows she's a powerful trainer but chooses to down place it with a smile here, a small shake of her head there, never meeting anyone's eyes. 'Nona trots beside her, and more than one person steps back (or is pulled back) to avoid the tails.
There are a few curious glances thrown Seto's way, but given he's with Eva, he's left alone. For the most part, because eyes do follow him and about halfway there, a street-thug, somewhere between older teen to mid-twenties makes a grab for Seto's wrist, while a group (with decently powerful-looking weavils, a sableye, and salandits) attempt to form a ring around them. They too seem to be in the same age range,
"How about we convince you to hand over your cash and the 'mon?" One of them - a woman- says as she tosses an ultraball up and down, eyes hard and as black as the bandana over her face.
no subject
He is absolutely prepared to fight his way out, subtly shifting into a ready position, but he hangs back for Eva's guidance.
"What a wonderful welcoming committee. Though not an observant one. I don't have what you want," he bristles.
no subject
"They're not known to be smart," Eva says, eyes flicking first to the pokemon, then to the trainers. A shift of her weight later, a hand near Tanknator's pokeball-
At least one of the grunts gulps. "Uh-"
Eva grins and cocks her head as 'Nona slinks out with a sharp yawn. "You know the Battle Tree, right?"
"Ha! So you're both some washed-out trainers?-" Here, Eva sighs and clicks her fingers while the grunt keeps. Talking. "-COOL! Wea, Metal Claw-"
'Wea' does not get much of a chance, because in the time it took to get the command out, 'Nona has moved and the weavile's now on the ground several feet away and it looks worse for wear.
"Hey! What gives?!" The grunt cries, looking between the ninetales and his pokemon. "That's not fair!!"
no subject
Yeah, Seto's still fighting to get free. He puts all his strength into digging his heels in and pulling away. He didn't have all that anti-kidnapping training for nothing!
But Eva seems to be scaring them on her own. He watches with pride.
no subject
Eva's eyes flick to Seto, then back to the grunt before her and she smirks. It's a Kaiba worthy one. "Fighting words."
The battle, if it can even be called that, that follows is short. 'Nona is a blur as she moves and every time, the attacking pokemon are left either fainted or looking worse off and in need of healing. The one time a salandit managed to get an attack in, 'Nona shrugs it off with a flick of a tail and spiralling lights. The pokemon blinks, staggers, and ends up trying to run into one of the grunts. It trips before it can and is recalled soon after.
Eventually, all pokemon are recalled, Eva holds not her hand expectantly and there are very, very dirty looks as the group slowly hand over coins and notes before they book it in the direction of the Pokemon Centre.
"'least it wasn't over Tanknator," she says with a shrug as she starts walking again. "They paid enough for lunch though."
Because this is clearly the weather.
no subject
"You're really something. No wonder people defer to you."
no subject
The store is big, easily three stories high and there's a big, red sign on the doors that state 'only service mon allowed'. Eva doesn't even miss a beat as she recalls 'Nona.
Cool washes over them when they enter. Eva pays little attention to the souvenir displays, which run the gamut from food to actual useful things though about half are cartoonishly alolan pokemon-themed or shaped, as she leads them to the lifts.
Though, she does get a bit distracted by this mug on the way. "Now that's clever."
And she's already got it in hand.
no subject
He steps onto the lift, practically buzzing with anticipation. "This is really happening."
no subject
"Yep, and pretty soon, you're going to be asking all the questions," she says -knows he will. Everyone does when it comes to custom porygon- and jabs the button to take them to the third floor.
When the doors next open, it's too high ceilings, clean lines and a dizzying array of cutting edge technology. From the lastest smartphones -Rotomi's- for city living, to the newest and most innovative designs for pokegear, to examples of custom-designed pokeballs.
Eva ignores it -and the main display- as she beelines to the counter to have a quick word with the employee on duty.
The porygon display that takes up a good chunk of the floor space as two custom coloured shells float behind glass, one noticeably rounder than the other. The information panel states these are basic shells for the AI, but if you can dream, it can be made. It goes on to list some of the more common customizations and trick outs they can do and some of them most definitely fall under the 'more money than brains'.
Like, who'd put rechargeable glowsticks on it as well as reindeer(?) antlers.
Brouchers go into far more detail, and while it doesn't say it outright, it's clear it's a chained AI. A heavily chained AI. One that is part mass product and part customizable to whatever specifications are required for its job. It even comes with a basic personality and preprogrammed phrases, including voice recognition. Alongside all the technical information, there's more than a few examples of customized ones. Some are creative, most just seem to be people creating all manner of weird -and bizarre- creatures based on existing pokemon. There's even a human-headed fish horse for some reason.
The prices, scaled to the clientele, vary from cheap basic packages, to the eyewatering full customization package that is Everything. Attacks, stats, personality, shell design, upgrades to the more powerful version of the AI (porygon2). If it can be dreamt, it can be done and if one is willing to pay that much, it's the priority and turn around is roughly half a day.
"Your sister says you're looking for a Custom. How may we help?" There is something in the man's voice that hints at sheer exasperation at Eva.

Now that he sees he won't turn too many heads, he straps his duel disk onto his arm and nods at the approaching person. He draws a card from his deck and plays it, a small holographic image of his Blue Eyes shimmering in the air.
"I'd like something to match this creature, please," he says softly. "This is the Blue Eyes White Dragon...a small family legend passed down to me. Her signature attacks are electric. I'm fine with going small. What would the price be for...about knee-height?"
